FERN drops first single & video 'Hyperreal' from the upcoming album 'Intersubjective'- out Sept 30th 2022

With his solo project FERN, THE OCEAN-drummer Paul Seidel explores a musical palette beyond the extreme metal he’s known for. Like a midnight metro ride across shifting tracks and past flickering lights, "Hyperreal" offers a first taste of the dark lively world of his debut album "Intersubjective", its weighty groove like the stroll against the gravity of the car slowing down. A wide-eyed anthem to anxiety that channels the experimental pop legends like Björk and Nine Inch Nails.

Paul Seidel comments : "Hyperreality is everywhere. It is part of every story you've ever heard, every book you've ever read, every website you've ever visited. And as it continues to expand into the digital spheres, as we further detach from the blank canvas that is reality we find ourselves questioning our own existence ever so often. What does reality even look like ? Can you tell a difference ?"

Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI... and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back ! No Music = No Life !
