Ouch ! I wasn't really prepared for what I was going to hear when I discovered DAYS SPENT, a hardcore band from Florida who have released 4 tracks here in October 2023 - ok, better late than never for a good review, right ? So, let's go !
4 tracks, total running time under 10 minutes... you'd think that it's not much, but once you've listened, you're stunned by the intensity, the energy, the rage... these people are angry and they're letting it be known ! The vocals are raw, intense, flaying, and throw out all the malaise of contemporary life. Musically, that's where I'm most surprised, it doesn't play at full speed, quite the contrary, we're mostly on mid-tempos with some fast ones (but do n't expect any mindless/useless blast-beats), with some heavy breaks but ... always with this concern to laminate your brain ... re-lent-less-ly... this impression of going under a bulldozer, you know ?
DAYS SPENT are best recommended for fans of the East Coast HardCore scene and bands like CRO-MAGS, AGNOSTIC FRONT, SHEER TERROR...
My only criticism... release it in physical format, digital still sucks !

Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI... and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back ! No Music = No Life !
