Well, here I am, in front of the screen, wondering where to start ... Not for lack of inspiration or some “blank page syndrome”... in fact, quite the opposite... there's so much to say! This new POINT MORT opus is bursting with incredible, surprising ideas of a scope that borders on the indecent! I'm telling you : you're not ready ! This album is a SHOCK, a huge slap in the face ! It's been a long time since I came face to face with an album and wondered how such a result was possible... The more you listen to it, the more you realize how rich and complex it is. There's always a detail, a brilliant idea, a flash of genius that surprises you... whether you've listened to it 10 or 1000 times... This “Point of No Return” will knock your socks off! !
7 tracks (+ intro) for an approximate duration of 45 minutes, during which your brain will be put to the test... POINT MORT is all hardcore energy, raw and hard-hitting, with exaggerated sensitivity, intense suffering and other phases of extreme relief... To do so, the band breaks codes, shatters pseudo "musical" limits and shamelessly assumes the right to mix and integrate pop, rock, electro or even hip hop influences into their hardcore-metal/post-harcore base... with disconcerting efficiency, impressive mastery and unfailing coherence! Boldness at its best! The tracks are packed with breaks and rhythmic changes, alternating darkness, brutality and violence with equally melodious, progressive, soothing, soaring parts... It's impossible not to be baffled... There is no Happiness without Suffering, no Euphoria without Exhaustion... In my opinion, this is the idea that emerges from this album, built on antagonisms and oppositions of all styles, which in the end complement each other perfectly to create a balanced and coherent whole.
But this album wouldn't be what it is without the incredible vocal performance of singer Sam Pillay, who multiplies the album's emotional charge with the way she alternates with disconcerting ease between melodious lines, rap-styled lines (as on “Le Point De Non Retour” and the nonchalant rap side - “who dares, wins!” - they say!) and vocals that are sometimes clear, sometimes screamed, bordering on malaise, on madness...
As the album draws to a close, I can guarantee you that you won't come away unscathed... so much energy, so many opposed emotions, everything inside you has been expelled, you feel drained... the addiction is palpable, you find yourself wanting to press the “Play” button again, and you will, because there's so much more to discover, listen after listen, so rich is this album on every level...
Could this be the album of the year?
Has POINT MORT already killed the suspense?
Time will tell... but they get my vote - already !

Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI... and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back ! No Music = No Life !
