BURST (Sweden) Live Session Premiere "(We Watched) The Silver Rain"
26 September 2022

"This was always going to be the track off of Lazarus Bird, right ? "The Silver Rain" is BURST in full, swinging prog-mode, pretty much as ambitious as we ever got ! One of the coolest, most fun tracks to play, it seems like the logical way to conclude this round of live sessions. Now, go check out our revamped albums as well as the massive box out on Pelagic Records, and if you’re in the area, ie the fucking freezing North, pick up some tickets for our upcoming shows this November !"

Post-metal auteurs BURST (Sweden) announce return, 2022 remastered vinyl release of their classic 3 albums “Prey On Life” (2003), “Origo” (2005) and “Lazarus Bird” (2008) and live shows.

When Swedish progressive metal quintet BURST disbanded indefinitely after a string of acclaimed albums and an intense live catharsis in Gothenburg, Sweden in December 2009, it marked the end of a 15 year evolution. What started out as young, crusty hardcore band in the 90’s, developed into a unique blend of metal, progressive rock and hardcore, alternating grand atmospheres with abrasive metal and melancholy melodicism. During the following years, the die-hards kept the torch lit while new fans discovered the band’s catalogue, but apart from a one-off appearance at Spain’s Be Prog festival in 2018, the band has remained quietly slumbering. Until 2022.

This fall, Pelagic Records will release “A Labyrinth of Layers” – an exclusive vinyl box set of the classic triptych Prey On Life (2003), Origo (2005) and Lazarus Bird (2008), as well as individual standalone LP releases of the aforementioned albums – the first two for the first time ever on vinyl format. Originally released on CD through Relapse Records, the albums have been remastered and graphically refurbished in 2022, with all new artwork by Robert Samsonovitz.

During their tenure, BURST mastered the art of continuous progression, always evolving, always treading uncarefully, never abiding. Burst’s live performances mirrored their albums; a display of meteoric ferociousness and heavy grooves, weaving effortlessly in and out of metallic outrage, stark melodies, and ethereal soundscapes.

To celebrate the reissues, the band announced their new partnership with Doomstar Bookings and a short string of live performances in the Nordic this coming November, with more European plans for 2023. Burst will be joined by Norna, fronted by Tomas Liljedahl of Breach / The Old Wind, and multi-instrumentalist Per Wiberg, formerly of Opeth, Spiritual Beggars and Kamchatka.

November 19, 2022 Copenhagen, DK @ Stairway
November 20, 2022 Gothenburg, SE @ Pustervik

Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI... and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back ! No Music = No Life !
