EXIL is a "new" band formed during the pandemic in 2020 by old seasoned punks that have a long career in the swedish Hard-Core scene, those lads have been involded in an incredible long list of bands such as Asterisk*, Demon System 13, Invasionen, The Lost Patrol, The Vicious, Tristess, U.X. VILEHEADS, AC4, Bruce Banner, Epileptic Terror Attack, Feral Brain, Imperial Leather, Riwen, Sonic Ritual, Suicide Blitz, Axis Of Despair, Infanticide, Proteststorm and more !!! Wow ! Can you believe it ? I wonder how it is possible to play in soooo many bands !
2020 was a shitty year, we all know this - it pissed the life of everybody off and those guys are no exception ! To ward off all this, they formed EXIL, one more band to add to the long list, to exorcise the ill-being sensation that we all felt at that time. And they express this through a kind of 80's US style HardCore with influences from bands like early DRI, Poison Idea, MDC, Minor Threat, Battalion Of Saints - get the picture ? Straight up hardcore punk, no bullshit, no metal - just very well composed songs with a massive dose of energy, frustration and angst - the essence of US Hardcore music !
11 tracks, 26 minutes of pure ferocious hardcore punk, the music hits fast and hard, sharp riffs, angry vocals, neckbreaking rhythms - this brings back to the golden years when stage-diving was the rule - and when we came out of the concerts sweaty and totally wasted ! But EXIL knows how to vary the music enough to hold our attention.. always some cool ideas here and there in the riffs to make the songs really catchy without losing intensity... It's nothing new but paradoxically completely refreshing, 'cos the guys obviously knows what they do, there's mastery throughout the 11 songs and the experience is undeniable... "Warning" is pure hardcore fury - nothing more, nothing less !
Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI... Passion grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back ! No Music = No Life !
