Well... this album is SHORT... 28 minutes... It could be a drawback, but when it comes to THRASH METAL, we can think the shorter it is, the more intense it is - right ? ... Remember "Reign In Blood" ? 30 minutes and you don't ask for more, the blast is intense and enough to get you down on your knees ! OK, far from me the idea of saying this "Living's Deal" is the new "Reign In Blood" and that EXPLOSICUM will dethrone all the big names of the style ... no, that's not the point .. but nevertheless, this album - even if it is rather classic in its conception and its writing - deserves that we linger there for the simple and good reason that it is a very enjoyable & intense production in terms of THRASH METAL .. Admittedly the band draws its influences from TESTAMENT, SLAYER, EXODUS, HIRAX and does not bring much new to the style, and is in the right line of bands like VIOLATOR, ULTRA-VIOLENCE, WARBRINGER, LICH KING to name a few, but everything is done with conviction and sincerity and it's there the assurance of having a good time listening to these 9 titles - all the ingredients of the style are there .. crazy guitars, neck-breaking rhytmics, aggressive, angry and anguished vocals... EXPLOSICUM will slap you as their songs are faster and more violent than the others and this is with a sense of relief that you end up listening to this album... Those guys do the job with honesty and that's what I really enjoyed when listening to them, they don't try to sound original or innovative, they just wanna THRASH and they do it well !
Born 1969, grew up with the NWOBHM sounds, musically educated with cult french magazines that were ENFER and METAL ATTACK, definitely nailed to the style when "The Number Of The Beast" by IRON MAIDEN was released... From 1982, it was clear life would never be the same ! Young & getting wild to the HEAVY sounds of SAXON, VENOM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, Young Fab also discovered thanks to school mates the NOISE, FILTH & FURY of Hard-Core/Punk bands like G.B.H, DISCHARGE, BROKEN BONES but also CRO-MAGS, BAD BRAINS, FUGAZI... and later on, through the 90's, everything that was ALTERNATIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, GRUNGE, INDUSTRIAL (SONIC YOUTH, NINE INCH NAILS, SOUDGARDEN, ALICE IN CHAINS)... Passion & curiosity grew up as years went by ... Fate was SEALED... no turning back ! No Music = No Life !
