HOAXED "Hoaxed" 2021

As out of nowhere, HOAXED, a "dark rock" duo based in Portland / USA took advantage of the lockdowns of 2020 to carry out this creative desire to think outside the box, by producing this 4 tracks-EP, full of promises, intriguing melodies, suave and addictive sounds .. 4 tracks at the crossroads of modern crunchy metal, macabre gothic rock, bewitching shoegaze, but also in my opinion, kinda "sweet pop-rock" to which we can add a dark aura as well as a certain originality in the way of doing, rather pleasant and welcome .. this EP is like a breath of fresh air in a scene eaten away by monotony and lack of inspiration - I could listen to it a thousand times in a row without getting bored - it's very inspired, perfectly in place, these combinations of ethereal vocal melodies over thunderous rhythms / grooves seem a big part of HOAXED's musical identity, and I think the band will develop that aspect even more on the album to come (2022 on RELAPSE Records !) which should be a very nice surprise if you look for something different, smart and addictive..
How to make you understand that HOAXED music is heavy, hovering, light and haunting at the same time while being the coherent as fuck ? I guess it's a kind of magic here and I'm sure you'll be under the spell once you listen to HOAXED ! Withotu a doubt, one of the most interesting releases of 2021 so far ! Congrats !!
